Paul Verhoeven's underrated sci-fi flick Starship Troopers celebrated its 20th anniversary a few weeks back, and it's made its way back into the collective conscience as proven by Egotastic All Stars reader Will H. While it's hard to say if Starship Troopers is one of Verhoeven's best films—I'd say it ranks fourth or fifth on his filmography—it's definitely not hard to say that the film flew over viewers' heads when it was released all those years ago. One of Verhoeven's achilles heels in the filmmaking process is poor casting. When you're making a bone dry satire of fascism, you've got to give us at least a handful of actors that can sell that concept, and spoiler alert, Casper Van Dien and Denise Richards weren't the ones to do that. So yeah, while the film has its issues, none of them dwarfs how amazing that coed shower scene was and still is.

On the day of the shoot, Verhoeven had asked the cast to do a little "fashion show without fashion" so that they could get comfortable being naked. When the cast was reluctant to disrobe, Verhoeven asked them what the big deal was, to which Meyer responded, "Paul, if it's no big deal, why don't you do it?

More stuff
Dina Meyer straddling a guy in bed and then pulling up her shirt to reveal her breasts before they begin to make out. We then see a flash of her breasts again as she rolls over to hide under the covers. From Starship Troopers.

Didn't Section 8 have some of that stuff? You should have seen her face. The differences between the novel and the movie piss Heinlein fans off to no end, almost as much as the World War Z book-movie fiasco. Mark Wahlberg and James Marsden were both up for the lead role of Johnny Rico, but Verhoeven ultimately picked relative unknown Van Dien, in part because he looked like he could have starred in a German war propaganda film. I remember the demo being fun stuff.
